SHOTS

aka Stephy

Roller skater, personal trainer, and all-around badass. Here’s Shots (aka Stephy) on their love for roller derby, park skating, and upcycled clothing.

I grew up in Dallas Texas and moved to Canada in 2005. I’ve been skating since the age of 5 so about 30+years. I started out as a roller skater and did jam, artistic, in-line and quad speed skating. Then I transferred over onto ice and did ice dancing and speed skating. I retired as a competitive skater in 2003 and decided to go into coaching which I still do to this day.

In 2014, I got into Roller Derby and skated with Hogtown Roller Derby out of Toronto. I then transferred to TriCity Roller Derby out of Kitchener Waterloo in Fall 2019 and played on Thunder A Travel Team and B as well. My position is a Jammer.

Our season and the rest of the world was put on hold due to COVID-19. I still plan on coming back once we are able to and cannot wait! I recently discovered park skating about 2 years ago and have been doing that until current. It’s definitely my new love and really enjoy it. In the summer you can definitely catch me shredding some bowls and on the road bouncing from park to park. Always down for a sesh!

I have a unique style when it comes to my threads and enjoy wearing vintage upcyled and recycled clothing. Double Dipped represents that.

I met Elly in the summer of 2020 at a skate park event in Welland Ontario and won a raffle for Double Dipped Clothing. Elly did some really awesome custom pieces for me and are super talented with their designs. Double Dipped has such a cool unique style that are fun and the recycled textiles they use are so well curated into the design. I love their take on upcyled and slowfashion recycled clothing. Its hella cool!
