I’ve been climbing for as long as I can remember. Like many people these days, I started off in a local climbing gym, but I quickly realized that outdoor climbing was the coolest thing in the world. I spent my high-school days on the beautiful sport routes in Rumney, New Hampshire.

When the time came for me to head off to college, I knew that I didn’t want to sacrifice climbing or my education- I wanted to pursue them both simultaneously. I chose to go to Quest University in Squamish, BC, a small liberal arts school in the heart of the best granite North America has to offer. It was there that I met Elly Grant, the face behind Double Dipped.

I always admired what Elly was doing with clothing- taking old, undesirable garments and breathing new life into them with a sewing machine and some bright splashes of color. As I continued to grow as a climber, I watched Double Dipped grow as a brand and evolve in style.

Most climbers identify as environmentally conscious people, but the pursuit of climbing isn’t exactly sustainable. Flights to all corners of the world, gas to drive around the continent, new gear, new clothes- it all adds up. As someone who cares deeply about the environment, it can be a bit of a quandary. I’m always looking for ways to adopt more conscious practices so that the places I love stay healthy. Because Double Dipped uses recycled textiles, wearing their funky clothing feels like a no brainer!
